How far along: 23 weeks.

How big is baby: a large mango.

What is baby doing this week: Your baby now weighs a little more than 500g and measures about 29cm from crown to heel. His hearing is established and around now he may be able to make out a distorted version of your voice, the beating of your heart and your stomach rumblings.

When your baby is born, loud noises he has often heard in the uterus (womb), such as the barking of a dog or the roar of a vacuum cleaner, probably won't bother him.

Some people swear by the theory that unborn babies prefer classical music. So in the coming months you could put on relaxing Bach or Mozart for his enjoyment – and yours!

In addition to advances in your baby's hearing, his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing. And as he gets bigger you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes!

As for you, you may feel clumsy now that your centre of gravity has shifted. Your gums may bleed when you brush your teeth and your belly button, once an 'innie', may now stick out. It'll revert to its pre-baby state soon after you give birth.

Total weight gain: 52.2kg, a gain of 300g since last week and 5.4kg since the start of pregnancy.

Maternity clothes: Maternity bras, maternity trousers, normal tshirts. Getting close to having to wear maternity shirts as my regular ones are starting to get a bit short in front.

Sleep: Far, far worse. Bedtime tends to be 1:30am lately, after i've finished editing some photos after work and then got the washing/washing up/feeding the dog done.

Best moment of the week:

Food cravings/aversions: None.

Nausea: None.

Fatigue: Nope.

Other: Never had this last pregnancy - but when i cough, i have to tighten my PC muscles or i get a tiny amount of leakage, which is a new thing for me and i hate it. At the moment i have had a cough for two weeks so have had to try to remember to tighten a lot... sometimes i forget. Also i try to go to the toilet frequently to help prevent any issues.

Movement: Active, mostly morning and evening. I think he's currently breech, most kicks tend to be below the belly button and in my pelvis.

Gender: Boy.

What i'm looking forward to: a non-eventful second half of my pregnancy (fingers crossed)

What i miss:

Next appt: TBA.

What else i've done this week:
